Greeced Lightning

Turn away now if you’re at all offended by sappy, gooey, get a room type romantic slobber because this is a couples only zone. It’s that time of year again, that designated Hallmark proclaimed chocolates and teddy bear giving holiday where love is in the air. If you’re going to forego the rose petals and sprinkle a bit of travel fever over your lady love instead, Greece might just be your ultimate wingman.

Santorini

Arguably one of the best sunsets in the world and it’s easy to see why when you’re perched up on the lip of a caldera looking down on white domes and bright blue houses. This just might be the perfect place to get down on one knee, to say I love you for the first time or just to declare your love to a delicious gyros. Windmills silhouetted against the sunset as the water hosts a plethora of pastels…what are you waiting for? Make this your special spot and go and create some memories!

Thessaloniki

Walk down the seafront and join locals wining and dining on the delectable cuisine here. Make sure to take advantage of the large variety of seafood on offer here, I would recommend the fried octopus. If you’re after something a bit different, zucchini balls are also a delicious appetizer. Once you lovebirds have eaten your fill and are ready for some cocktails, head to one of the cities rooftop bars such as Fragile for some unique flavours and hipster vibes.

Mykonos

Said to be the location of the epic battle between Zeus and the Titans but that doesn’t mean you can’t kiss and make up on the windy streets or in secluded restaurants. Take a romantic stroll through the whitewashed marble maze of alleyways or take advantage of the 300+ days of sunshine along the waterfront with the multitude of fishing boats. Fancy a spontaneous elopement? The Panayia Paraportiani Church will make the perfect spot with something old, new, borrowed and blue already taken care of…

Meteora

If there ever was an otherworldly dreamscape, Meteora with its huge sandstone structures and monasteries perched on top is one. Looking for all intents and purposes to be some sort of Bond villain hangout, there’s enough history here to keep any mild nerd interested. You may not be pulled up in a net basket anymore to the monasteries but you can still spot a monk or two walking through the corridors and churches. Make sure you have a third wheel with you to take jealousy inducing snapchats of the two of you. If for some reason, you don’t travel with a personal photographer, make sure you at least have a selfie stick because these views are a once in a lifetime.
